Odyssey: Leading the way to better access and support for low- and middle-income students

Imagine if every deserving student could benefit from the College’s empowering education, regardless of his or her background or economic circumstances. With your investment, the innovative University of Chicago Odyssey Scholarship Program is making a need-blind, loan-free education at one of the world’s top universities possible for students who otherwise would not be able to afford it.

Odyssey is UChicago’s comprehensive initiative to support students in all phases of their education and beyond graduation.

Odyssey led the way for this groundbreaking initiative with a $100 million gift—the largest ever to the College—by an unnamed alumnus known as Homer. His generosity inspired thousands of alumni, parents, and friends to make gifts that help students most in need and fulfill UChicago’s commitment to creating a more equitable and just society.

Most recently, a $50 million gift from Harriet Heyman, AM’72, and Michael Moritz and a corresponding $50 million challenge has expanded Odyssey beyond financial aid to support students’ full educational experiences, providing guaranteed summer internships and extra funding to make studying abroad affordable.

Your gift to Odyssey helps us meet this ambitious challenge and protect the fundamental values of merit, self-achievement, and disciplined work that have informed the culture of the University since its founding.
