Empower the next generation for a computational era: Center education

The rapidly changing field of computational science gives the University an opportunity to take a leadership role in educating the next generation of computational thinkers. The research centers of the Computation Institute are committed to training students—high schoolers as well as undergraduates and graduate students. As one example, the CI and the Logan Center for the Arts cofounded the Hack Arts Lab, an open digital fabrication workspace where students and faculty can experiment with 3D printing, laser etching and cutting, and data visualization. HAL will create a campus community of boundary-crossing scientists, artists, and engineers.
