Strengthen language study
The Division of the Humanities annually offers instruction in more than 50 languages for over 5,000 students across campus in the College, the graduate divisions, and the professional schools. This is an indication both of student demand and the University’s unique scholarly commitment to language study. As the University expands its engagement with the world, it renews its historic investment in language teaching and research through the Chicago Languages Initiative.
Gifts to support this initiative will fund innovative language teaching as well as research on languages and linguistics and their impact on human development. Such resources will transform language pedagogy both at and beyond the University, while ensuring that UChicago students have continued access to the widest possible array of language learning opportunities.
