UChicago Arts

UChicago Arts builds on the University’s tradition of rigorous inquiry, bold experimentation, and radical interdisciplinarity to create a destination for the best creative thinkers. Recognizing the power of the arts to generate knowledge and shape society, we are cultivating the next generation of artists, transforming communities, and imagining new modes of practice and scholarship.

UChicago Arts is forging a national model for integrating practice, presentation, and scholarship that includes renowned museums, theaters, and music organizations; university-wide initiatives connecting the arts with scholars and the city; academic and research programs in the Humanities Division, the College, and across the University; and more than 60 student arts organizations.

At the center of this model are three interconnected initiatives that span the University: Arts and Public Life, the Richard and Mary L. Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry, and the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, and two professional arts organizations, Court Theatre and the Smart Museum of Art.

Collectively these initiatives exemplify both a dynamic new role for the arts in a world-class research institution and the impact such institutions might have in major urban centers.

The University of Chicago Campaign: Inquiry and Impact will raise $65 million to promote initiatives through UChicago Arts.  For additional opportunities to support the arts please visit, the Court Theatre and Smart Museum of Art priority sections.
