Section 3503 of the Canadian tax code allows Canadian citizens to make gifts to qualified US universities and to use the tax receipt they receive from the university to claim a tax credit on their Canadian income tax return. The University of Chicago is a qualified university. The University will provide you with a receipt that you may use to claim your tax benefits.
